ABOUT ME

My name is Harpal (Paul) Singh. I currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area and work as an Analyst for a software company. I was born in India and came to the United States at the age of nine. Over the last thirty years, I have had the opportunity to live in Washington, Oregon, Kansas, North Carolina, Texas and California. I am like most people, I have many hobbies, interests, dreams and a loving family.

Over the years, I have had the chance to see many things, do many things, and enjoy the gift of life. Along the way, I have always been aware of less fortunate people in unfortunate circumstances and I have always been deeply disturbed by pain and suffering in peoples' lives. Two years ago, when I visited India, I was moved to tears at times as I watched many children begging for food, barely dressed. Yet I felt their spirit. I thought to myself of all that they will never even have a chance at. In my mind's eye, I saw what each of them could become if only given a chance.

I have always helped whenever I could, but I always felt inside that it was never enough. Although I wanted to do so much more, I was also driven by my own dreams and needs and there was no way for me to contribute in ways that I dreamed. I applaud people for working hard and building a great future for their family and children and to live the life that they work so hard for. I have nothing against people building wealth as it is a natural desire to want to give your loved one the best that you can.

I do however, want to encourage people who are doing well to take a moment and contribute to those that living in extreme poverty and give those children a chance at a meaningful life. I think every religious group teaches to help the needy and give to the poor. However, I do not believe that we are doing all that we can.

I think there are many people who realize the need to help others in need, however, they simply do not have the resources to do so. I want to take this chance to reach out to those people and pool resources.
